It's easy to understand why people become so consumed with sports. The personalities of many who play the games we love are intriguing and entertaining. More than that, though, there is an expectation every time we attend a sporting event or sit down to watch one on television that we might see something we have never seen before. The challenge for a sports writer covering these events is to capture the excitement of the moment and allow the reader to re-live it, while also putting things in the proper perspective.
